Michael Farmer

Success Story

Michael Farmer, a 77-year-old farmer, recently went to a local hospital after experiencing left-sided weakness. While there, he learned he had a stroke.

After his initial hospital stay, Michael chose to begin his rehabilitation journey at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Northwest Ohio (RHNO) because of its disease-specific stroke therapy program. The hospital is nationally certified in stroke rehabilitation.

During his time in therapy, Michael worked hard even though some days it was a slow process. “I would tire easily,” he says. “But the therapists were so helpful and very competent. Plus, the food was good!”

Overall, Michael felt his experience at RHNO was positive. He responded well to therapy and is now back to feeding his goats and chickens and even mowing hay. “Tinkering with my farm equipment is something I enjoy. It keeps my brain working,” he jokingly says.
